The Dimensional Model assessment will provide you with objective advice on how your dimensional model can be improved, where potential risks lie, and how you can apply the best practices to maximize your data warehouse investment. Our assessment is designed to minimize the risk of design issues and prevent costly rework.

Process

Intake Session

Our consultant will contact you to determine the scope and relevant stakeholders. Prior to the first workshop, the consultant will review background information such as business requirements, project documentation and the issues/challenges related to the exiting dimensional data model.

Workshop: Identify the Challenges

During a half day workshop, our consultant will facilitate a discussion in which you define the design challenges, describe the existing dimensional model and pose questions around this model. If required, our consultant will also interview individual stakeholders.

Review

We consolidate the information received, review your dimensional model and determine recommendations.

Workshop: Recommendations

During a half day workshop, we will facilitate a discussion in which we present the identified design issues, deliver an improvement proposal, present valid alternatives for the present model and propose best practice approaches to minimize design issues.

Final Report Document

After the final workshop, we will deliver a report outlining the review results, recommendations, priorities and an action plan for next steps.

Deliverables

You will receive knowledge transfer, expert advice and recommendations during the course of the assessment. At completion, a report will be delivered outlining the review results, recommendations, priorities and an action plan for next steps.
